Its Beach Rock Arch at Sunset
Thanks to low tide being timed with sunset and clear skies, I was able to take advantage of this rather rare photo opportunity and capture the sun setting through the rock arch at Its Beach. The rock arch can be seen in a number of my sunset pictures that I have captured from Its Beach and Lighthouse Point, but this was the first time I was able to capture the sun falling beyond the horizon through the arch itself.
As a side note, the only other person at the arch with me was another man who wandered up just as the sun was dipping down and was also taking photos. Turns out he was visiting here from Minnesota and had never seen a west coast sunset. I’ve witnessed thousands of sunsets in Santa Cruz, and yet shared a unique experience with someone who was seeing their first sunset here. Thanks Mother Mature, you once again reminded me how blessed we are to be living in such a beautiful place.
